Nicolaus Copernicus (1473–1543) was a distinguished Polish astronomer, mathematician, economist, and physician, creator of the heliocentric theory. In his work "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" (On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres), he proved that the Earth revolves around the Sun, not the other way around, revolutionizing modern science. He was a canon of Warmia and died in Frombork.
