Pułku Czołgów do Polski dzień 17czerwca, decyzją Ministra Obrony Narodowej z dnia 9 czerwca 2009 r. został
ustanowiony Świętem Wojsk Pancernych i Zmechanizowanych.
HistoricalBackground At the initiative of General Józef Haller, the 1st TankRegiment was formed in France in the spring of 1919. The regiment was equipped
with 120 Renault FT light tanks, considered modern at the time.On 17 June 1919 the regiment arrived in Poland by railtransport, marking the beginning of the Polish armoured forces.The regiment’s soldiers took an active part in thePolish–Bolshevik War, including the battles near Daugavpils and Babruysk.To commemorate the arrival of the 1st Tank Regiment inPoland, 17 June was established as Armoured andMechanised Forces Day by decision of the Minister of National Defence on9 June 2009.
