W czerwcu 1976 roku Polska znalazła się w obliczu narastającego kryzysu społeczno-gospodarczego. Bezpośrednią przyczyną robotniczego protestu była ogłoszona przez władze PRL decyzja o drastycznych podwyżkach cen żywności. Sprzeciw społeczeństwa doprowadził 25 czerwca 1976 roku do wystąpień robotniczych w wielu miejscach kraju, szczególnie w Radomiu, Ursusie oraz Płocku.
W Płocku protest rozpoczęli pracownicy miejscowych zakładów pracy, którzy wyszli na ulice miasta, wyrażając sprzeciw wobec polityki władz. 7. Przyznawanie dyplomów

BACKGROUND
In June 1976, Poland faced a growing social and economic crisis. The direct cause of the workers’ protest was the decision announced by the authorities of the Polish People’s Republic (PRL) to introduce drastic increases in food prices. Public opposition led, on June 25, 1976, to workers’ protests in many places across the country, especially in Radom, Ursus, and Płock.
In Płock, the protest was started by employees of local workplaces who took to the streets of the city, expressing their opposition to the government’s policy. The demonstrators marched towards the headquarters of the Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party (PZPR). The events ended with the intervention of security forces, arrests, and repression against the participants.
June 1976 became one of the important milestones on the Polish road to freedom. The workers’ protest and the subsequent assistance provided to those persecuted contributed to the creation of opposition movements, including the Workers’ Defence Committee (KOR). The experience of June ’76 became a foundation for the changes that eventually led to the birth of “Solidarity”.
